PAIN MANAGEMENT CENTER

1182 Troy-Schenectady Rd.   Latham, NY 12110 518.713-5400

Under the direction of Drs. Leonides Fernando and Gary Wood, SRPC opened an outpatient pain management center in Latham, NY in the Fall of 2007.

Drs. Fernando and Wood, both esteemed neuroradiologists, perform many types of image-guided procedures in this office. The most common procedures, epidural steroid injections, are primarily for the relief of chronic back and joint pain. The doctor uses X-ray to help guide him to the exact location in the body where the medication will be the most effective.

GENERAL PATIENT INFORMATION

  • It is recommended you have someone come with you to drive you home.

  • If you are ill and have a fever, your procedure needs to be rescheduled.

  • Recent MRI Images from any SRPC Medical Imaging Center can be accessed directly at the Pain Management Center in Latham for your procedure.

  • Patients need to bring their current MRI films or disc images to their appointment if they are from other imaging centers.

  • Anti-inflammatory medications (Celebrex, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Alieve, or
Naprosyn) should be stopped 5 days prior to the procedure.

  • Procedure reports are sent directly to your referring physician.

  • Ample parking on the same level as the Center.

  • Blood thinners, including Aspirin (if more than 81mg per day), Plavix, Coumadin, or Lovenox may need to be stopped under the direction of your physician for 3 - 5 days before your procedure. Patients on Coumadin will need a blood test prior to the procedure.
