What is Diagnostic Medical Imaging and how is it used?

Diagnostic Medical Imaging is a tremendous resource that uses X-ray, magnets, and sound, to produce images (pictures) of the inside of the human body; usually without the need to enter the body in any way. Occassionally, a needle is inserted to administer a contrast material to enhance some images.

These images are interpreted ("read") by medical doctors who are specially trained Radiologists. Radiologists determine if a suspected condition exists, or equally as important, does not exist, and they report their findings to the patient's physician shortly after completion of the exam.

High field open and semi-open MRIs provide excellent images of internal structures.

Our new digital X-Ray machines at both imaging centers allow radiologists to see images within seconds of completing the exam.
